How Stean Gorge
|
How Stean Gorge or Little Switzerland as it is sometimes called, is a popular visitor attraction situated near the village of Lofthouse. The centrepiece is a deep gorge formed from carboniferous limestone. Up to 80 feet deep in places, it is easily accessible from a network of paths and footbridges running through it. Why not walk beside How Stean Beck with its plunging
waterfalls, before heading across to Middlesmoor with its
spectacular panorama down the Nidderdale valley, and finish
off with some refreshments in the tea room?
The more adventurous visitors can explore 'Tom Taylor's
Cave' which takes you deep underground.
