Access Volunteers
|
Forty volunteers have undergone extensive training to become Open Access guides and advisers for the busy weekend periods and bank holidays. They will operate from eight different locations in the AONB area where members of the public are most likely to set off for a walk onto Open Access Land. The Rangers have been trained in countryside management, the
details of the new legislation, hill craft and navigation,
emergency rescue and basic first aid, and have been given some
insight into the local wildlife and the industrial archaeology that
exists in abundance in the AONB. Most importantly the volunteers
have been schooled in how to deal sympathetically with members of
the visiting public and how to deal with difficult situations -
from dogs running off leads to heat stroke, people being lost, to
illegal use of motor cycles.
We're looking for volunteers - Why not join our
team?
Do you enjoy the countryside? Love walking in beautiful
surroundings? Enjoy sharing your knowledge with others? Then you
may be just the person we're looking for.
We are recruiting a team of Open Access Volunteers to work in
the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and other areas
in North Yorkshire. Your role as a Volunteer will be to help ensure
that the new right of access to open country is welcomed by
walkers and landowners alike.
