Support the work of the Yorkshire Dales &
Harrogate Tourism Partnership!
This is a partnership between Craven District Council,
Richmondshire District Council, South Lakeland District Council,
Harrogate Borough Council, Eden District Council, Ripon City
Partnership, Hambleton District Council, the Nidderdale Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Yorkshire Dales National Park
Authority and the Yorkshire Tourist Board.
The partnership carries out a marketing role for the Yorkshire
Dales marketing area through Yorkshire Dales Tourism in line with
the marketing and other policies included in the Common Policy
Statement agreed by all partners.
Purpose
- To market and develop the Yorkshire Dales brand
- To generate more income into the Dales economy through a range of promotions compatible with the environmental concerns of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the wider Dales marketing area
The marketing area has been defined as the complete Districts
of Craven and Richmondshire, plus those parts of South Lakeland and
Eden, which lie east of the M6, A685 and south of the A66, and
those parts of Hambleton District and Harrogate Borough to the
north of Harrogate town and to the west of the A1 trunk road
continuing northwards to the A66.

Partners have acknowledged that carefully managed tourism can bring economic rewards to resident communities. In drawing up a work programme and marketing plan for the Yorkshire Dales marketing area, the Yorkshire Dales & Harrogate Tourism Partnership undertake to:

- Pay due regard to any potential environmental impacts of its activities
- Encourage visitors to act responsibly when in the area
- Monitor its activities to safeguard the long term prosperity of the Yorkshire Dales
- Include messages to stimulate sustainable tourism within all its promotional materials
- Continually review and innovate new ways of influencing the activities of its visitors
- Look at ways to minimise any negative impacts identified as a result of tourism or tourist activities on resident communities
