Bird Watching

The Nidderdale AONB is one of the area' s foremost destinations for birdwatchers.

Gouthwaite Reservoir Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Pateley Bridge supports large populations of Wildfowl and Waders, and offers great opportunities for Raptor watching on the surrounding moors.

The AONB's moorlands and moorland edge pastures contain regionally-significant breeding populations of Curlew, Lapwing, Redshank and Snipe, whilst populations of Pied Flycatcher and Woodwarbler occur in ancient woodlands like Hackfall.
