Nidderdale Llamas
|
There are walks and there are walks! But this one is as
different as it gets: leading a llama around Nidderdale Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty!
Llamas are great 'individual' characters and make ideal walking companions - they are gentle, intelligent, easy to handle and they even carry all your gear! Llama Trekking is a fantastic way to enjoy Nidderdale relaxing with your new friend amongst beautiful countryside with breathtaking views. Guided treks range from two hour sessions through to a full days trekking including locally produced homemade pack ups all carried by your llama. While many of us have only ever encountered llamas in zoos and wildlife parks, they are working, domestic animals whose natural habitat is the Andes mountains; there they are still used as beasts of burden, as well as for the production of fibre (which is very soft and naturally lanolin free) and meat. All the llamas at Nidderdale Llamas are well-socialised and trained to halter and lead after weaning, they are very friendly and pleasant to be around. An unforgettable experience that you'll be recounting for
years to come!
